Cover crops in the production of green and sweet corn

ABSTRACT Intensive conventional tillage cultivation of both green and sweet corn can contribute to soil degradation when compared no-till systems. This study aimed assess the agronomic characteristics physicochemical quality grains grown under succession planting using different cover crops. Two experiments were conducted, one with other corn, a randomized block design consisting seven treatments: brachiaria (B); Pearl millet (PM); showy crotalaria (SC); SC+B; PM+B; PM+SC PM+SC+B, four repetitions. The fresh (FW) dry weight (DW) crops decomposition their residue assessed, in addition performance bromatological grains. Brachiaria showed lowest FW DW production, highest rate shortest half-life covers assessed.
